The Fortunate Us mixed media series pair raku pit-fired clay fortune cookies with abstract watercolors acting as the fortune inside. Each piece is unique because of the randomness of the pit-firing pottery process. Each has its own coloring from the smoke and fire surrounding it.

Inside each Fortunate Us clay fortune cookie is a one-of-a-kind abstract watercolor painting. The painting by Steve Hartman measures roughly 2” x 8” and is inserted into the fired fortune cookie following the pit-firing process.
